BANG BROS returns to Netflix on April 23.
The upcoming season picks up a few years after the events of the first season, where the team discovers a mysterious alien presence and a new, alien villain.
We caught up with the writers and executive producers to get their take on the new season, the impact of the alien threat, and how the series will continue to evolve over time.ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: You guys are doing something new with this season, it’s a little bit different from the first.
Is that a good thing?
BRIANNA SANDERS: [Laughs] It’s definitely a different take.
I think it’s definitely the right time to bring that element to the show.
It’s also a little more of a character-driven season, so we’re going to be dealing with a lot more of these weird, alien-related situations.
We’re going into the year with the new aliens, which is going to really kick things off in a big way, so there’s going to have to be some tension.
But yeah, we’re trying to build up to that, because it’s going out in the year.
And it’s also going to bring out the big bad, so that will be really interesting to see.
It really is a very different take on a lot of the events and themes that we’ve been playing out in season one.
The new aliens are really big in the first, and they’re just really big and really scary.
The season is going into a big time period, and we’re getting to see some of these characters come together and form a new organization.
And I think they’re going be able to do a lot with their newfound power, because they’re getting some new powers.
So that’s going a long way towards what they were hoping to accomplish in the second season.
JOSHUA FERGUSON: So, this is the second time you’ve done a blind date.
I’ve always thought it was a little odd.
You guys did it with the other blind dates you did, with the girls that were blind dating.
BRIENNA SINGER: Yeah, but we didn’t do a blind dating blind date before this one, right?
JOSHua FERGEN: Yeah.
BANGBROS: We haven’t done that in a while, actually.
And we’re not really into blind dating, so it was kind of weird.
I guess we kind of just did it to be sure, like, what’s the best way to do it.
JOHNNY BOND: Yeah!
I think I was really happy with how we were able to get that out there.
We were all just so happy.
We didn’t know what was going to happen.
We knew it was going be something fun, and I think we really did do it the right way.
JAHNSON: We did a blinddate blind date with the whole cast, which I think was pretty fun.
But it was also kind of like, how did we come up with that?
We’re like, “Let’s go blind date!”
So, the best thing is just to be so good to everyone.
I mean, there was like a lot to think about, so everyone just sort of came together and we had fun.
And the other day, it was like, okay, this one is really, really, honestly, totally perfect.
BANGBROS: [Sings] This is the most bang bang bang of bang bang, bang bang.
It makes me want to take a shower.
BILLY BUNNER: And now, it just makes me go, “Oh my God.
That’s really good.”
[Laughs.]
I think that’s a pretty good analogy.
JAY LENNER: I was actually like, I think this might be a good opportunity for a blind person to meet a blind girl, and that would be cool.
I was like “Okay, what about it?”
So I went to the gym with the blind girl.
I’m not going to lie, I was kind worried about how it would go.
I didn’t think I’d make it through the workout.
And then the next day, I just walked up to the girl and I said, “I’m so excited to meet you.
I just met you yesterday.”
I’m like, no, I don’t think that will work.
So I had to go through the whole workout, and then I said something like, it doesn’t matter, I’m a blind, so you’re going home.
And she was like [Laughs], “Okay.”
And then I was going, “Well, if you’re blind, you don’t have to answer this question.”
I don-she just kind of nodded her head and then went on.
It was great.
